Eggnog Gelato

Easy Recipe

1 1/2 cup of your favorite eggnog (yes, just one ingredient!)

Simply freeze the store bought eggnog for a creamy and delicious result. Perfect for any holiday gathering or late night Christmassy treat. We tend to like it less sweet so 1 1/4 cup eggnog and 1/4 cup heavy cream is a great balance of rich and sweet.

Advanced version

Eggnog is basically a spiced custard, so start with the Tern gelato or custard recipe and make your own with fresh, raw ingredients.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 tsp Ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup Sugar
  • 2 Egg Yolks
  • 3/4 cup Milk
  • 1/2 cup Cream
  • Cinnamon for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

Beat together the sugar and egg yolks until well combined. Mix in the milk and then the cream and place on the stove. Add the nutmeg and heat the mixture until it reaches 175 deg F or just when the mixture starts to thicken (do not boil and do not overheat as it can get an “eggy” taste). Strain the mixture and then chill in the refrigerator for a few hours or in a bowl sitting in an ice bath. Finally freeze with your Tern ice cream maker.
